Maybe you read your horoscope for insight into a new relationship or whether you’ll get that promotion or for an explanation to why your phone seems to be randomly shutting off (it’s Mercury retrograde. Trust us.). But you can also use the stars to find the methods, systems, and organization ideas that are the most compatible with your sign’s traits to help increase your productivity and workflow. Find out the best system for your sign below.
(June 21 – July 22)
While work-life balance is important for everyone, it is doubly so for Cancer. To achieve this balance, they do well working from home. As great managers, Cancers pick up on non-verbal cues easily as well as reading between the lines of an email. Communication tools like Slack are perfect for Cancer so they can keep track of their team, stay on task – and work from wherever they feel most at home.
(July 23 – August 22)
The Lion seeks attention, admiration and adoration for their work. Because of this they do best in work settings where they can receive acknowledgment for their work. Because Leo needs routine, structure and set goals, the Pomodoro Method of defined and timed tasks works well for them.
(August 23 – September 22)
The zodiac’s resident organizer, detail-orientated Virgo never met a list they didn’t love. They excel at seeing all the different, complex pieces of a project, but their perfectionism can sometimes cause Virgo to loose sight of big picture or miss deadlines. The MoSCoW Method lets Virgo create a series of lists, prioritized by Must, Should, Could and Want, allowing them complete the most important tasks and keep moving.
(September 23 – October 22)
Sociable Libra needs interaction to achieve tasks and does not work well in isolation. They crave beauty, symmetry and are very visual, so a graph-based system like the Eisenhower Method is a great tool for them. Prioritizing tasks in a four-quadrant chart, from least to most important to urgent helps Libras see their work before they set out to complete it.
(October 23 – November 21)
Focused and driven, Scorpio likes to set goals and go after them. They work best alone but have a very strong competitive streak. They are very motivated by friendly-competition, such as charting progress against other team members. Scorpio also does well gamifying their workflow – much like Zero Inbox, a system where you remove visual and mental clutter daily by getting to all those emails/tasks/to-dos.
(November 22 – December 21)
Creative, dreamy Sagittarius excels in a flexible work environment with untraditional hours and office policies. They are great at imagining innovative solutions and concepts, but often lack the boundaries and time management skills needed to turn these ideas into reality. A system like the Action Method helps them break up a project into actionable and timed steps to record new ideas, and keep them on track.
(December 22 – January 19)
The focused, committed Goat enjoys structure, a fixed routine, and a total separation of home and office. Maintaining boundaries between their professional and personal day are incredibly important to them. Don’t expect to find them with a home office or checking work email on a Saturday. To get the most out of their work hours, Capricorns do well with personalized systems that chart when to do which tasks at which times, like the Biological Prime Time system.
(January 20 – February 18)
Intellectual and airy Aquarius has no problem seeing the big picture and coming up with the strategy to achieve large-scale goals. They need to exchange ideas with other people but work as well over email and the phone as in person. To turn their big strategies into actionable plans, Aquarius should use a method like the SMART System, which takes those big ideas and creates a roadmap of measureable milestones to make them a reality.
(February 19 – March 20)
Pisces is the imaginative dreamer and schemer of the zodiac. Their quirky and out-there ideas might seem crazy – but they often translate into inspired results. Pisces can adapt to most situations but do particularly well in unconventional work environments where their minds can wander and create. They’re prone to procrastination, so systems that force them to do the worst task first, like Eating Frogs Alive, get the dreaded work out of the way, freeing them up to cook up new ideas.
(March 21 –Aril 19)
Independent and ambitious, Aries doesn’t need a lot of external structures or management to stay on task – if they see the direct benefit to themselves. A self-starter, Aries has no problem kicking-off a project, brainstorming new ideas or dreaming up solutions, but follow-through can be a challenge. The Kanban Method, which helps you visualize the workflow and tackle tasks in incremental steps, is perfect for Aries to see a project through completion.
(April 20 – May 20)
Self-sufficient and driven, Taurus can work well either at home or in an office with little outside oversight. They like deadlines and routines, and if things deviate from the norm, they’re thrown off track. Task-driven, Taurus does well with simple tracking system, Ivy Lee Method, where you prioritize next day’s six most important tasks at the end of each day and work towards completion.
(May 21 – June 20)
Chatty, gregarious and personable Gemini thrives in an office setting. Great communicators and moderators, they work well on teams and benefit from deadlines imposed from the outside. Built-in social breaks throughout the day – like grabbing coffee with a co-worker or taking ten on Instagram – are great boosts for them. Tools like Chrome’s Inbox Pause, helps set time limits on the time you spend on personal email or social, which is key for Geminis because “Ten minutes” can turn into “all afternoon” quickly for them.
