Olivia Reasoner is a girl on the go. As an executive personal assistant to a high-profile client, no two days are the same and she credits finding balance as the key to making it all work. Born in California, Reasoner grew up in Ohio and currently calls New York home. And since travel is a big part of her job description, from it, she’s been able to create a lifestyle that she thrives on.
We caught up with Olivia in Vancouver, BC, Canada (where she’s currently been for her job) to get her thoughts on her travel essentials, lifestyle hacks, and the one thing she always looks for in new destinations to help her recalibrate from life.
What is your “urban island,” that oasis in the big city that helps you find balance?
I try to find a body of water wherever I travel to. I’m naturally drawn to it – the water is comforting and soothes my soul. When I’m in New York, I’ll go for a run along the Hudson River during the week or escape to The Hamptons if I happen to have a free weekend to enjoy the beach.
What is your favorite adventure?
My life currently! I am so lucky to love my job. Part of it includes the opportunity to travel and explore the world, just as I had always dreamt of. The best way for me to adjust to a new location is to first take the time to wander & get lost a bit (Google maps on standby, of course).
If you were an island, which one would you be?
St. Barths! The island has a perfect balance of tropical vacation vibes mixed with a Parisian attitude that I love.
If you were a city, which one would you be?
Paris has completely stolen my heart.
What are your five island essentials?
Mophie iPhone charger. I’m constantly on the move and my cellphone is everything to me – I don’t have time to wait and charge it.
Lypo-Sphyric Vitamin C Packets. I spend a lot of time on planes and often am exposed many germs. These squeezable packets of vitamin C are great for on the go to keep your immune system up
Milk Makeup! And if you haven’t tried it – you must. It’s for men and women on the go, like myself. It’s quick easy and all natural.
Evian Misting Spray. My skin gets super dehydrated no mater how much water I consume. To keep my skin quenched without clogging my pores with lotion or harsh chemicals, I keep a mini Evian misting spray in my purse at all times for instant hydration.
A breezy knock around dress. My day to day style must be able to translate from day to night. During the day I find flowing dresses and some classic trainers to be my outfit of choice. At night I’ll throw on some black loafers or a chic sandal to elevate the look.
What lifestyle hack do you think is the most underrated?
Writing things down. Physically putting a pen to paper helps me remember things better and seems to be more reliable than technology.
What lifestyle hack do you think is the most overrated?
Sleep! I get anxious just thinking about it – there’s just not enough time in the day. It’s not healthy, but I only need about 5 hours to feel rejuvenated.
What was the best piece of advice you’ve every received?
In order to live a creative life, you have to be willing to make the wrong decision.
What was the best piece of advice you’ve ever given?
Only worry about what you can control. The rest only causes unnecessary stress and not to mention, wrinkles!
We believe all jewelry tells a story. What is the story of your favorite piece of jewelry?
My favorite pieces are gold and classic. I’m always drawn to items with some sort of twist, understated with a flare like the Kalaki Riot Remi Tapered Gold Cuff.
