KR Founder, Tracy Dungo, sat down with Emily Merrell, the brains behind Six Degrees Society, and talked shop from branding to the different worlds of retail vs. brick-and-mortar and her advice for budding entrepreneurs. One of our favorite sound bytes:
Starting a business is always risky. Personally, I can be pretty risk averse so staying at my full-time job while I was figuring out my brand in the beginning (what worked, what didn’t work) was the only way I would do it. But it’s also a good way to measure if you love your idea enough — if you’re able to stretch yourself and make some sacrifices to get it off the ground in the beginning while balancing a full-time job, then you might have something.
Six Degrees Society is a networking group with chapters in New York, Chicago, and LA made up of like-minded women that come together through specially curated monthly events and workshops.
