The design concept of the Wave Wrap ring actually came to us on the heels of the Sea Peak motif (Sea Peak Ring, Sea Peak Cuff Bracelet, Sea Earrings). To counteract the mini wave crest silhouette, we took a more curious approach to “sea nostalgia” and thought there was something really cool that could be done with texture and the chaotic scene of waves crashing into one another and on shore. So the challenge was conveying all this in a piece that could still be worn daily as a reminder of the urban island life, or city island balance.
After studying some of our own photos (no shortage of beach and ocean shots there!), we were able to pull a lot of the delicate lines and deep grooves with a chaotic sense of direction that you see on the band. It was important to us to make the band wrap style so it could be slightly adjustable to accommodate different sizes and look options. Finally, the shape of the ring itself is organic in form to complete our ode to the freeform sea. The best kind of reminder one needs a quick escape from every day life.
